The biggest annual celebration of physical activity and moving more is just days away, and nobody likes to miss out on a celebration – so we’ve strapped ourselves to our laptops and gathered a list of great ways you can join in on the fitness action.
1. Get active at your local leisure facility
Gyms and leisure facilities will be opening their doors once again to offer the public a range of free taster sessions and gym passes.
Use the National Fitness Day Location Finder here to find out what your local gym is offering on the day – who knows, you may just score yourself a free gym pass!
2. Get stepping with EH Staffordshire’s challenge
The team over at Staffordshire are marking National Fitness Day with their very own step challenge, #HowManyCanYouDo? Starting Wednesday 20th September, the 50-person team will be aiming to consistently walk 10,000 steps for an entire week which just so happens to total up to a cool 3.5 million steps. With walking being one of the most easiest and accessible ways of exercise, why not join the Staffordshire team on their challenge and see just #HowManyCanYouDo?
3. Wakeup workout
Last year, National Fitness Day inspired 11.4 million children to get active on the day with their ‘10@10’ campaign. The campaign aims to get children in thousands of schools across the nation to take part in a 10 minute workout at 10am.
With only 19% of young people getting 60 minutes of exercise a day, this is a great way to get kids moving more during school hours (and not to mention, a genius wakeup call!).
If your school hasn’t signed up yet, send your teachers here where they can download a free toolkit to support your school to take part.
4. Boost team morale across your business
Research shows people who regularly exercise perform better at work, earn more and are happier in their jobs, and National Fitness Day is here to support workers in getting their fitness fix.
