About our courses
Our courses are mapped to National Occupational Standards and functions of the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (PHSKF) and Making Every Contact Count (MECC) guidelines. Any health information gathered is from the key public health messages, for example any smoking cessation awareness work has been gathered from the NCSCT, ASH and NHS guidelines.

Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to provide candidates with an understanding of the principles of promoting health and wellbeing and enable them to direct individuals towards further practical support in their efforts to attain a healthier lifestyle. The qualification covers examples of inequalities in health within the UK, their possible causes and current approaches to tackling these inequalities. Candidates will learn how effective communication can support health messages, how to promote improvements in the health and wellbeing of others and understand the impact of behaviour change on improving an individual’s health and wellbeing.
Level 2 Supporting Behaviour Change
Duration: 1 day

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to provide the learner with the knowledge, confidence and skills to support individuals who are thinking of making a health behaviour change. It will enable learners to understand the importance of effective communication in building rapport with individuals. It will also help learners to understand how to work with individuals to increase their motivation to make a behaviour change and explore the factors that hinder and facilitate that change. Learners will know how to engage with individuals for the purpose of very brief interventions such as Making Every Contact Count (MECC) and develop an action plan with individuals to make and sustain behaviour change. This course covers models of behaviour change (Such as COM-B) and making SMART goals.
Level 2 Nutrition for Health
Duration: 1 day

Description:
This qualification covers the key role of nutrition in health and wellbeing. Its objective is to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the relationship between diet and health and wellbeing, as well as the role of food labelling and other factors in food choices. It will equip learners with an awareness of the importance of healthy eating and the need to provide special diets/foods for specific clients.
Level 2 Encouraging a Healthy Weight and Healthy Eating
Duration: 1 day
Assessment: Completing a workbook. These will be assessed by the centre and assessment decisions will be scrutinised by RSPH.

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to provide learners with the ability to help individuals develop a healthier lifestyle by encouraging them to eat healthily and attain/maintain a healthy weight. Learners will increase their knowledge and understanding of why individuals may not be at a healthy weight, the effect on health of this, the principles of healthy eating and how individuals can be supported to achieve a healthy weight and eat healthily.

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to enable individuals with an interest in health help others develop a healthier lifestyle by encouraging physical activity. Learners will increase their knowledge and understanding of why individuals may not actively participate in physical activity, the health benefits of physical activity and how individuals can be helped and supported to improve their health by increasing their level of physical activity.
Level 2 Understanding the delivery of NHS Health checks

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to provide the learner with the knowledge and understanding to support them in carrying out an NHS Health Check assessment and to inform the client of the significance of their results and their risk, providing brief advice if required. It provides underpinning knowledge for the core competences and technical competences described in the NHS Health Check competence framework produced by Public Health England.
Level 2 Understanding Mental Wellbeing

The objective of this qualification is to provide candidates with a knowledge and understanding of the principles of mental wellbeing, the effect of mental wellbeing on the individual and community, and how mental wellbeing can be maintained or improved. The qualification will provide learners with an understanding of the importance of mental wellbeing, the theoretical models that can be used to describe it and factors that may affect it.
Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace

The RSPH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace provides essential knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements for health and safety, alongside the procedures required to effectively manage risks, respond to incidents, and prevent work-related ill health.
This accredited qualification is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and understanding needed to actively contribute to a safe working environment. It reinforces the roles, responsibilities, and accountability of all staff in identifying hazards, assessing risks, completing risk assessments and taking appropriate action to protect themselves, colleagues, and service users.
Level 2 Health and Safety is a fundamental requirement for anyone currently in, or preparing for, employment. It is particularly important for those starting a new role, undertaking work experience, or seeking to strengthen safety standards within their team. The qualification supports a proactive safety culture and underpins professional responsibility in maintaining safe and compliant workplaces.
Level 3 Qualifications:
RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Health and Wellbeing Improvement – Supporting behaviour change in professional practice

Description:
The objective of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to promote the health and wellbeing of individuals, groups and communities so that people can make improvements and changes to their lives by positive behaviour change or by adopting activities and practices that will have a positive effect on their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The qualification will enable learners to carry out conversations and consultations with individuals, groups and communities to help them to identify their priorities in relation to their health and wellbeing, and to support them in recognising those factors that might be affecting their health and wellbeing. It will also enable learners to support others to make changes with respect to improving their health, by exploring their readiness and commitment to change, and developing a client-led change or action plan. The qualification includes how behaviour can affect physical and mental health, the theories and principles of behaviour change, the use of motivational techniques, the roles and responsibilities of people who support the health and wellbeing of others and how to conduct a motivational or enabling consultation.
